Atlanta Shopping

Atlanta, Georgia is one of the Southeast's major metropolitan areas. The area contains several counties, most notably Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, and Henry counties, though several other counties are often considered a part of the metro Atlanta region. Atlanta is a Southeast center for trade, and it houses numerous shopping malls and boutiques.

Boutiques and Luxury Shopping
Some of the most expensive places to shop in Atlanta are located around Buckhead, a district known for high-rises and an elevated cost of living. Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square are located across the street from one another. Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom are among the most popular department store located in Phipps Plaza. The plaza also has more than 100 specialty stores.

Lenox Square Mall was built between 1957 and 1959, and it was the first major shopping mall in the state of Georgia. Lenox is known for being one of the most widely visited and profitable shopping malls in the United States. Kate Spade, Herve Leger, Nicole Miller, Louis Vuitton and Burberry are some of the most well known shops and boutiques in Lenox Square. Large department stores featured in Lenox are Macy's, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale's. There are also several upscale hotels within an easy walking distance of the mall.

Metro Area Malls
Atlanta is a Southeast center of trade, and it is also known for its numerous suburban shopping malls. The Mall of Georgia in Gwinnett County is the state’s largest retail shopping center.

Other Shopping
Most grocery stores in metro Atlanta are part of a larger chain. Kroger and Publix are perhaps the largest grocery store chains in the southeast. Popular department stores are found all over the metro area, including Target, Wal-Mart, JC Penney, Sears, and Costco.
